An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) The Black Cat, the classic 1934 Edgar Ulmer Universal horror thriller ("Based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe"; "Things you never saw before or ever dreamed of!"; the ads said "based on the Edgar Allan Poe story", but it is very loosely based on it!; Karloff and Lugosi are arch enemies who meet again after many years, and there is a honeymooning couple who is marooned at Karloff's creepy castle, and Lugosi tries to rescue them and get revenge on his old enemy, and meanwhile, there is Satanic worship and black cats roaming the place, and all kinds of weird stuff that you need to see for yourself!) starring Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, David Manners, Julie Bishop (billed as "Jacqueline Wells"), Lucille Lund, Luis Alberni, and Henry Armetta NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that there is a printed snipe on the back of the still, describing the scene on the front. Condition: good to very good. There are two punch holes in the left border which extend into the very edge of the still background. There are creases in the upper right corner extending into the image background. There are three tears in the top border. There is a 1/2" tear that very slightly touches the edge of the image background in the center of the top border, and to the right of that, a 1/2" tear and a 3/4" tear in the background area in the upper right (the longer tear extends to just above Lugosi's hair, but does not enter it). There are numbers written in pen in the lower left corner. It seems likely that an extremely tiny amount of blank border was trimmed from the edges of the left and right blank borders, for the still measures 8" x 9 3/4". There is a tiny crease in Karloff's top two fingers, but you really only see it when the still is tilted to the light. When the still is tilted to the light, you can see a very few other very minor surface scuffs. Someone put a 7" long piece of clear tape across the back of the right two thirds of the top border (mending the small tears and a second 1" piece of tape on the back of the creases in the upper right corner, for reinforcement).
