The Circus, the 1928 Charlie Chaplin silent slapstick big top circus comedy ("Chaplin's uproarious escapades under the Big Top.") starring Charlie Chaplin (Charles Chaplin; as the Tramp), Al Ernest Garcia, Merna Kennedy, Harry Crocker, George Davis, and Tiny Sanford. Note that Chaplin won an Oscar for "versatility and genius in acting, writing, directing and producing The Circus". Though initially nominated for Best Actor, the Academy decided to remove Chaplin's name from the competitive classes and give him a Special Award instead.

Important Added Info: Sometime in the 1990s someone hired some "starving artists" from South America to paint recreations of classic posters that had been auctioned in 1990s Christie's auctions! At first, some people were fooled into thinking that these were actual vintage posters, perhaps for local theaters showing the movies at the time of their first release, but once people took close looks at them they could see that they had been recently created, and then the entire story came out. NOTE THAT THIS WAS PAINTED DIRECTLY ON TO A PIECE OF LINEN, so it is NOT a "linenbacked" poster, but rather a poster painted on linen! It can certainly be displayed and enjoyed, but bear the above in mind before bidding.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was painted on to linen (see above). There are many creases in the top of the poster and some scattered in the rest of it (see our image).
