eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 9g291 SEVEN YEAR ITCH Aust daybill '55 art of sexy Marilyn Monroe's skirt blowing, ultra rare! Date Sold 8/6/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 13 1/4" x 30" [34 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) The Seven Year Itch, the classic 1955 Billy Wilder married-man-with-roving-eye romantic comedy ("It's the stage riot that rocked New York for 3 years!"; "Based upon an original Play 'The Seven Year Itch' by George Axelrod"; the movie that features the famous scene where Marilyn is standing over the grating as her dress flies up around her legs; the entire movie was very sensational in its day!) starring Marilyn Monroe, Tom Ewell, Evelyn Keyes, Sonny Tufts, Robert Strauss, Oscar Homolka, Marguerite Chapman, Victor Moore (as the plumber; in his final movie role), Dolores Rosedale (billed as "Roxanne"), and Carolyn Jones. Note that the image of Marilyn Monroe with her skirt blowing up is rightfully the most remembered image of Marilyn from any of her movies. But this movie also has the memorable scene which was extremely risque for its time, where a naked Marilyn in a bubble bath gets her toe caught in the faucet and a plumber must free her! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this Australian daybill before! Condition: good. The poster had an uneven vertical tear down the center of the image. Fortunately, it was to the right of the top of Marilyn's figure (and it just touched the left edge of the "M" of "MONROE"). It went through Marilyn's skirt, just to the right of her figure, and the tear ended at the bottom of the "NE" of "CINEMASCOPE". Someone put clear tape on the back of that tear. There are also several rough horizontal creases above and below the top fold, and one partial horizontal crease near the center of the poster. There was a 2" tear and tiny paper loss in the bottom center of the poster and someone put tape on the back of that area. There are also many creases across the bottom 1" of the poster, and a few other creases scattered in the poster. Certainly, one would wish this poster were in better condition, but its defects are the sort that respond really well to professional restoration. After linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will look fantastic, and it will likely require very little paint restoration. Learn More about condition grades
