An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) Mutiny On the Bounty, the 1962 Lewis Milestone & Carol Reed high seas adventure melodrama ("A story of romance and adventure on the high seas and in the South Pacific"; "The greatest adventure ever lived becomes the greatest adventure ever filmed!"; "The mightiest sea-spectacle that ever swept across the screen!"; "True... Turbulent... Tremendous! The mightiest excitement that ever swept across the sea or the screen!"; "Mutiny surges across the storm-tossed ship!"; "A moment of ecstasy amid a nightmare!"; "Men lashed by a cruel captain!"; "The Bounty is welcomed by natives of Tahiti!"; "Filmed in the exotic splendor of Bora-Bora, Moorea and fabled Tahiti."; "Based on the novel by Charles Nordhoff and James Norman Hall"; "The most exciting and romantic real-life adventure ever told!"; "Marlon Brando looks proud but pensive as the Bounty leaves England on a voyage that will make history."; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Marlon Brando ("as Fletcher Christian"), Trevor Howard ("as Captain Bligh"), Richard Harris ("as John Mills"), Hugh Griffith, Richard Haydn, Tarita (a Tahitian woman who went by this single name), Percy Herbert, Duncan Lamont, and Noel Purcell. Note that star Marlon Brando had a fascination for Tahitian women, which was a major factor in his wanting to make this movie. Before this film, he sought out and married Movita, who had starred in the 1935 version with Clark Gable, having two children with her. After the filming of this movie, he had an affair with Tarita, who played the role Movita had played in 1935, and he married and had two children with her as well! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the still shows a great candid image of Marlon Brando with director Carol Reed "in earnest conversation". Also note that there is information about the still printed on the back. This still is of special interest, because it must have been taken early on in the filming! Shortly after this, Brando used his influence to have Carol Reed fired (apparently Brando disagreed with the legendary director on almost everything), and Lewis Milestone was hired as the replacement director, but legend has it that Brando basically directed the movie, and that Milestone just sat around the set and collected a paycheck! Condition: very good to fine. There are a very few faint emulsion scuffs scattered around the edges of the still, but they are truthfully not at all noticeable except when the still is tilted to the light.
