An Undated (probably 1920s) Re-Release (re-titled "Getting His Goat" for this re-release) Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28 1/2" x 42" [72 x 107 cm]) (Learn More)

The Property Man, the 1914 Charles Chaplin silent film-making prop comedy short (produced by Mack Sennett; Charlie must satisfy all the actors' wishes while making sure everything is where it is supposed to be, with comic results) starring Charles Chaplin (in the title role as The Property Man), Phyllis Allen, Charles Bennett, Jess Dandy, and Alive Davenport. Note that Chester Conklin, Mack Sennett and Slim Summerville all had uncredited roles in this short. Also note that this was from Charlie Chaplin's very first year of making movies, and virtually no first release movie advertising of any kind exists from any of those 1914 movies!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie (original or re-release) until we received this 1920s re-release one-sheet (and it is quite likely that NO first release paper exists of any kind)! Also note that this one-sheet measures 28 1/2" x 42" [72 x 107 cm].

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and a few tiny tears and pretty minor fold wear, and tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss in the top and bottom quarters of the vertical fold, with minor wear on the other folds. It had some smudges in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
