An Unfolded East German Special Poster (measures 22 3/4" x 32" [58 x 81 cm]) (Learn More)

Friede in Unserem Lande! (literally translates to "Peace in our Land!"), the 1987 East German poster (with a tagline that translates to "Peace in our land! Peace in our city.That he who built it may live well in it.") featuring a Horst Wendt photo of the Brandenburg Gate and the Quadriga (chariot) atop it. The land mark was incorporated into The Berlin Wall between East and West Berlin, but after the Revolutions of 1989, The Wall was demolished and the Brandenburg Gate became a symbol of freedom and the desire to unify the country, which occurred in October of 1990. Note that the words on the poster are taken from a Freie Deutsche Jugend (Free German Youth) song with lyrics that include quotes from Pablo Neruda & Bertolt Brecht
