An Original Vintage Publicity Promotion Exploitation Kit (measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/4" [24 x 31 cm]; 100 pages) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, the classic 1963 Alfred Hitchcock suspense horror thriller ("Nothing you have ever witnessed before has prepared you for such sheer stabbing shock!"; "'It could be the most terrifying motion picture I have ever made!' - Alfred Hitchcock"; "'...and remember, the next scream you hear may be your own!'"; "The birds is here!"; "Daphne Du Maurier's shattering psychic thriller."; "Based on Daphne Du Maurier's Classic Suspense Story!") starring Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy, Suzanne Pleshette, Tippi Hedren (billed as "Introducing 'Tippi' Hedren, A Fascinating New Personality"), Veronica Cartwright (13 years old), and Richard Deacon. Note that Alfred Hitchcock used the two taglines "The birds is coming!" and "The birds is here!" on several different types of advertising for this movie, no doubt because he thought it was funny that while it is technically grammatically correct when referring to the movie, they "sound wrong"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a VERY unusual item! It is a printed folder with images of ads from national magazines on the back and a montage of images on the inside front cover. The first interior page, which is the cover of the inside "pocket" that holds all the promotional materials, has printing on it that begins with "This PUBLICITY, PROMOTION AND EXPLOITATION KIT is a supplement to your Showman's Manual pressbook on THE BIRDS", and that page goes on to tell exactly what is contained within the kit. So obviously, this was sent to larger theaters (at least) together with the regular pressbook, to give them additional ideas on how to better market this movie. We have previously auctioned one example of this "kit", and that one had a bunch of additional material with it, including many stills, but we feel that those extras were accumulated by a collector and added to it, because there is nothing missing from this kit, and the interior page does not say anything about containing stills or other materials that are not in it! Note: We have 13 images of this item, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 13 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 3. Condition: very good. There is some wear around the edges of the edges of the folder, but not much (see our image). The interior materials are all in really nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
