An Original Vintage 8" x 8 1/4" [20 x 21 cm] News Photo (Learn More) Lana Turner (born Julia Jean Mildred Frances Turner) was an actress from the 1930s to the 1990s. She was born in 1921 in Idaho, and her father was murdered when she was a young girl, and her mother moved to California. In 1937, she was discovered at a soda fountain (not Schwab's, but one close by), and she had a small role in 1937's "They Won't Forget", and she became very popular very quickly. She remained a top leading actress for over 20 years, though her turbulent personal life definitely affected her career (including the murder of her violent gangster lover, Johnny Stompanato, by her own 14 year old daughter Cheryl Crane, and also her eight husbands, the first of which was bandleader Artie Shaw, who himself was married eight times, including to Ava Gardner!). Some of her movies include: The Postman Always Rings Twice, Imitation of Life, The Bad and the Beautiful, Peyton Place (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. She passed away in 1995 at the age of 74 AND Ava Gardner was an actress from the 1940s to the 1980s. Surprisingly, Hollywood did not recognize the talents of this beautiful actress for years, because she had a long string of tiny or uncredited roles before she became a star! Some of her movies include: Mogambo (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), The Killers, On the Beach, The Barefoot Contessa, Bhowani Junction, and many others! She was married three times to famous celebrities Mickey Rooney, Artie Shaw, and Frank Sinatra. She also struck a friendship with Ernest Hemingway, who, after witnessing Gardner swim naked in his pool, told his staff "the water is not to be emptied"! She passed away in 1990 at the age of 67 AND Fernando Lamas was an Argentinean actor from the 1940s to the 1980s. Some of his roles included: The Lost World, 100 Rifles, and Dangerous When Wet. He was married to both Esther Williams and Arlene Dahl at one time, and his son with Arlene Dahl is actor Lorenzo Lamas. He passed away in 1982 at the age of 67. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 8" x 8 1/4" [20 x 21 cm]. Condition: good. Someone trimmed off the right 2", which had the caption for this news photo, and they glued it to the back (see our images). The still was used in a newspaper or magazine and there are paint enhancements within the image (so it would show up better in the printed article). Learn More about condition grades
