An Original Vintage Austrian Film Program (measures 6" x 9 1/4" [15 x 23 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) Das erste Recht des Kindes (literally translates to "The First Right of the Child"), the 1932 Fritz Wendhausen German unwed mother abortion melodrama (written by Thea von Harbou; about an unmarried woman who becomes pregnant, and the father of the child is a student with no money, so she tries to get an abortion, but everyone rejects her, and she tries to commit suicide, but fails, and then she has a dream that makes her want to be a mother, and she has the child) starring Hertha Thiele, Eduard Wesener, Helene Fehdmer, Erna Morena, Hermann Vallentin, and Hedwif Schlichter. The movie was initially banned, but Nazi Heinrich Himmler intervened and ordered the movie to be released, saying that it was of vital interest to the state that the public see this movie. When the movie was first released in Germany, it had the subtitle "From the Diary of a Gynecologist".
