The Return of Boston Blackie, the 1927 Harry O. Hoyt Massachusetts reformed-crook-turned-detective crime mystery canine dog German Shepherd melodrama starring Corliss Palmer, Bob Custer (billed under his real name of "Raymond Glenn", in the title role as Boston Blackie), Rosemary Cooper, Coit Albertson, William Worthington, and Strongheart the German Shepherd. Note that this is one of ten silent movies made in the 1920s starring the fictional character "Boston Blackie", a reformed crook turned detective, which were based on short stories by Jack Boyle. The character was revived in 1941 with Chester Morris playing Boston Blackie, and there were 14 movies in the 1940s. Note that most people only know Boston Blackie from the 1940s series starring Chester Morris, but he had been portrayed in movies since 1918. In this 1927 movie, he is given a dog assistant, who was played by Strongheart the German Shepherd who was currently extremely popular!
