2m043 LOT OF 1 NEW AMERICAN THEATRE ACCOUNTING HARDCOVER BOOK '37 receipts & movies of that year!

a lot of 1 New American Theatre movie theater accounting book containing detailed booking sheets and daily box office receipts for every single movie played at the New American Theatre in San Francisco, California from December 28th 1935 to July 29th 1937! The person who compiled the book glued the bank deposit ticket for each day's receipts onto that day's report (receipts would vary from the low hundreds to the high hundreds depending on the day of the week, and of course what movie they were showing). This is a fascinating look back into a working movie theater from one of the most important years in the history of movies. What is fascinating is that they wrote down EVERYTHING that they showed each day, including the names of the shorts, newsreels, and cartoons (and in 1937, this theater was showing a double bill every day, so there are two movies each day). If you stayed for the entire show, you were in the theater for 3 to 4 hours!
Measurements: 9" x 11"

Condition: very good to fine. The pages of the book have darkened somewhat and there is slight discoloration on the cover, but overall, I would say this book has survived in about as good condition as one could possibly hope given its age!
