Date Sold 2/15/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Folded Special Movie Poster (measures 57 1/2" x 98" [146 x 249 cm]) (Learn More) Cecil B. DeMille's The Sign of the Cross, the classic 1932 Cecil B. DeMille early Christians-vs-Romans religious romantic love triangle action adventure epic ("A picture which will proudly lead all the entertainments the world has ever seen"; "Superb road-show dramatic spectacle"; "The First Big Spectacle of Talking Pictures"; "From the play by Wilson Barrett") starring Fredric March (as Marcus Superbus), Elissa Landi, Claudette Colbert (as Empress Poppaea), Charles Laughton (as Emperor Nero), Ian Keith, Tommy Conlon, Vivian Tobin, and a "Cast of Thousands" NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a special poster that Paramount Pictures created, showing a graphic representation of Christian being sacrificed to lions, which was a major plot point of this spectacular movie! It does not have the name of the movie on it and it has a "picture frame-like" border glued over the border of the poster, so it is possible it is an incomplete poster, but we can't say. Surely it was intended to be displayed in theaters showing this movie, but we have never seen another poster like it! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note also that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and after proper restoration, it would look great! Finally note that the poster measures approximately 14" x 24" when fully folded, so it will need to be sent in a large flat package that measures approximately 16" x 26" so bear this in mind before placing a bid. Condition: fair. The poster was kraftbacked (see above). It has a border glued around it to simulate a picture frame. If the poster is complete, then we would say it is in "fair" condition. If it is incomplete it is of course in "poor" condition. Regardless, it could certainly be displayed and enjoyed either with or without restoration, but bear all of the above in mind before placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
