Date Sold 7/23/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A Vintage Hardcover Book (measures 4 3/4" x 5 3/4" [12 x 15 cm]; 188 pages) (Learn More) Call of the Wild, the 1935 William A. Wellman Alaska Yukon canine dog adventure gambling romantic melodrama ("Clark Gable portrays his most virile role in Darryl Zanuck's production"; "Based on the story by Jack London", but with a greatly expanded romance that wasn't in the book) starring Clark Gable, Loretta Young, Jack Oakie, Reginald Owen, Frank Conroy, and Buck (the St. Bernard dog!). Note that while making this movie, married Clark Gable had an affair (or was it rape?) with unmarried Loretta Young, and she became pregnant, and because it would have ruined both their careers, she took a year off and returned with an "adopted" baby! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in the 1930s, The Lynn Publishing Co. published "Lynn Books", which were similar to Whitman Publishing's "Big Little Books", and "Better Little Books", except they measured 4 3/4" x 5 3/4". All of these were books that each had an image on one side and text on the other. They were mostly aimed at children and teenagers, and often were adapted from comic strips, comic books, movies, etc. Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, the interior page that shows the publishing information, and an interior 2-page spread which should greatly help you judge the condition of this book. Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
