An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe Black & White 11" x 14" (11x14) Movie Still in Double Mat (measures 13" x 15 1/4") (Learn More) Robert Montgomery (born Henry Montgomery Jr.) was an actor from the 1920s to the 1960s. He was born in New York in 1904 into a rich family, but his father died and the family was broke, and Robert worked at many jobs. He made it to the Broadway stage and then to Hollywood in 1929. His big break came when Norma Shearer picked him to play opposite her in "Private Lives" in 1931. He was a major star of the 1930s and 1940s, and in order to keep from getting typecast, he kept taking very different roles. Some of his movies include: Night Must Fall (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (1941), They Were Expendable, Here Comes Mr. Jordan (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Lady in the Lake (as Raymond Chandler's Phillip Marlowe), and The Divorcee. He had a popular TV show in the 1950s, "Robert Montgomery Presents". His daughter, Elizabeth Montgomery, became a major star as well, but of course, she was more of a TV actress, best remembered for TV's "Bewitched". He passed away in 1981 at the age of 77. Important Added Info: The still is stamped "ROBERT MONTGOMERY METRO-GOLDWYN-MAYER" on the back of the center of the still. Also note that this still was ONCE personally autographed (signed) by Robert Montgomery, but the ink has massively faded over the years, and all that is left is part of a few letters in the bottom of the chair. But this IS an original vintage MGM deluxe photo, and it has its own collectible value, even though the signature has long ago faded. Condition: very good. The still was once signed, but it has long ago faded. It is held to a double mat with white conservation tape from the reverse of the top of the still. It could be displayed just as it is, or placed in a frame just as it is, or it could easily be removed from the mat backing simply by cutting the two pieces of conservation tape. Note that we have provided an image of the still as it views through the mat, and also an image with the top mat lifted up, but of course, the buyer of this item receives ONE still!
