An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Australian Daybill Movie Poster (measures approximately 13" x 30") (Learn More) Twelve O'Clock High, the classic 1950 Henry King World War II (WWII) military airplane aerial-combat pilot aviation thriller ("A story of twelve men - as their women never knew them - and of one man who stood forward alone!"; "The World Stands Still At... Twelve O'Clock High"; "Produced by Darryl F. Zanuck"; "Based on the Novel by Sy Barlett and Beirne Lay, Jr."; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about American pilots in England in World War II, and how the strain of facing death every day causes them to become fearful and unbalanced, and about the no-nonsense general who tries to change things) starring Gregory Peck (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as General Frank Savage), Hugh Marlowe, Gary Merrill, Millard Mitchell, Dean Jagger (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Robert Arthur, Paul Stewart, John Kellogg, Bob Patten, and Joyce Mackenzie. Note that this excellent movie inspired a very popular TV series as well! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). OR you can't see the restoration because it was so well done, but the poster had fairly significant defects. OR no restoration was performed, but the defects are not major, and restoration could be done to the poster without re-backing it. See below for its pre-restoration defects (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Overall, the poster was in pretty nice condition, but there was some light faint scuffing over much of the image are, but it is truly not very noticeable except on the closest inspection.
