An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian One-Panel (known in Italy as a "2 Fogli") Movie Poster (1p; measures 39" x 55" [99 x 140 cm]) (Learn More) The Godfather, the classic 1972 Francis Ford Coppola (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) gangster organized crime epic ("'The Godfather' is now a movie."; "Based on Mario Puzo's Novel 'The Godfather'"; "Screenplay by Mario Puzo and Francis Ford Coppola"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Marlon Brando (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Don Vito Corleone), Al Pacino (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Michael Corleone), James Caan (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Sonny Corleone), Richard Castellano (as Clemenza), Robert Duvall (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Tom Hagen), Sterling Hayden (as Captain McCluskey), John Marley (as Jack Woltz, the movie producer who wakes up with the horse's head!), Richard Conte (as Barzini), Diane Keaton (as Kay Corleone), Abe Vigoda (as Tessio), Talia Shire (as Connie Corleone), John Cazale (as Fredo Corleone), Alex Rocco (as Moe Greene), Gianni Russo (as Carlo), Al Martino (as Johnny Fontane), Morgana King (as Mama Corleone), Lenny Montana (as Luca Brasi), John Martino (as Paulie), Salvatore Corsitto (as the undertaker Bonasera), Al Lettieri (as Sollozzo), and Simonetta Stefanelli (as Apollonia Vitelli Corleone, Michael's Italian wife) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: S. Neil Fujita Important Added Info: Note that this is the extremely rare first release Italian one-panel poster from this classic movie. We have only auctioned it once in all our years of auctioning, and that was five years ago, when it sold for $651. Now the person who purchased that poster has re-consigned it, so it is still the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned! The poster was re-released a few years later (likely between 1977 and 1980), and a virtually identical poster was printed (but a credit was added for the Italian actress who played Apollonia), and also that poster has different printer information. This first re-release poster has often been mistakenly sold as being from the first release, including by us. There is also a second re-release poster (likely from the 1980s), with no printer information at the bottom left (and that same added credit), and that too has often been mistakenly sold as being from the first release. Note that this poster ships in a very long tube (at least 33" long, but possibly 50" long or more). Therefore the shipping for this poster will be more than that for a poster that ships in a tube 32" or shorter, and possibly much more. Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. You can tell how long of a tube this poster needs to ship in by looking at the shorter dimension of its length and width and then adding 4" to that (so a 47" x 63" poster will need to ship in a 51" long tube). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had creases, tears, and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some foldlines and minor border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
