An Original Vintage Linenbacked World War II Military Propaganda Poster (measures 27 3/4" x 40") (Learn More)

Remember Dec. 7th!, the 1942 U.S. World War II (WWII) recruitment poster ("...we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain...") featuring art of a damaged United States flag flying at half-mast over a burning background by Allen Saalburg. December 7th, 1941 is the day that the Naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, was attacked by Japan, bringing the United States into World War II, and this poster was designed to encourage people to enlist in the military.
Artist: Allen Saalburg

Condition: good to very good. The poster was folded in half an extra time and there were creases and minor wear on all the foldlines. There was an uneven tear running to the left of the bottom of the middle foldline, starting at the right end of the third "E" of "REMEMBER", and running down for 8" to the left of the middle vertical foldline with some small horizontal tears at the bottom of that longer tear. There was a 3" horizontal tear in the bottom center of the image, 3" above the bottom of the poster and 3" to the left of the vertical foldline. There was a 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" area of paper loss in the bottom right corner of the poster (only solid brown background area was affected). Other than the above defects, the poster was in pretty nice condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed. You can see signs of the restoration of the above defects from close up, but from any reasonable viewing distance, they are not very distracting at all.
