Date Sold 11/14/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Three Faces West, the 1940 Bernard Vorhaus World War II (WWII) Home Front romantic love triangle adventure melodrama ("GUILTY of daring to love and live"; a complicated story of an Austrian surgeon and his daughter who flee Germany to escape Hitler, and they go to a small town in North Dakota; but the town is devastated by dust storms, and all the townspeople are led to Oregon by a handsome young man, who the daughter starts to fall for, but her father wants her to marry the man who helped them escape from Germany, but she learns that he has embraced Nazism) starring John Wayne, Sigrid Gurie, Charles Coburn, Spencer Charters, and Helen MacKellar. Note that it goes unstated in the movie, but it seems obvious that the surgeon and his daughter are Jewish, and one of the screenwriters was Samuel Ornitz, who was later one of the blacklisted Hollywood Ten screenwriters! We have only auctioned an insert, three lobby cards, and a one-sheet from this movie until we received this lobby card! Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Also note that this lobby card has been trimmed and it now measures 10 3/4" x 13 3/4" [27 x 35 cm]. Condition: good to very good. The card was in a bound volume and it was very neatly (and very slightly) trimmed on its top, right, and bottom borders. It was removed from the bound volume roughly and there is now a jagged edge down the left blank border, along with tiny holes from where it was bound. The card measures 10 3/4" x 13 3/4", so it was only a small amount of each blank border that was trimmed. Other than the trimming, the card has a tear with creases and a smudge in the right of the bottom border (repaired with tape from the back) and a tack hole in each corner.
