An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Elmer Clifton's Down to the Sea in Ships, the 1922 Elmer Clifton silent Massachusetts Quaker whaling seafaring romantic love triangle melodrama ("'Down to the Sea in Ships' is one of the greatest sensations ever brought to the screen"; "The most stupendous piece of realism ever photographed"; about the daughter of a man who insists she marry a Quaker whaler, but she loves another) starring Marguerite Courtot, Raymond McKee, William Walcott, Clara Bow (in her first time on screen), and James Turfler. Note that this was technically Clara Bow's 2nd film, because she was cast in a role in the early 1922 film "Beyond the Rainbow". However, many sources indicate that her scenes were cut from that film (and only added back for a later re-release), which would make "Down to the Sea in Ships" the first time she appeared on screen. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good to fine.
