An Original Vintage Theatrical Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) The Prisoner of Zenda, the 1922 Rex Ingram European royalty adventure thriller ("From Edward Rose's stage play and Sir Anthony Hope's novel"; about the king of a mythical country who is kidnapped by his half-brother, but a visiting nobleman who is an exact duplicate of the king arrives, and he is convinced to take the place of the king, and that is complicated by the king's love falling for the imposter!) starring Ramon Novarro (in a dual role as Rudolf Rassendyll and as Rupert of Hentzau), Lewis Stone, Alice Terry, Robert Edeson, Barbara La Marr, and Lois Lee. Note that the 1937 version of this movie starring Ronald Colman and Madeleine Carroll is very well remembered, but this earlier silent version is almost completely forgotten today! Finally, note that director Rex Ingram is no relation whatsoever to Rex Ingram the actor (likely best remembered as the genie in 1940's "The Thief of Bagdad")! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning, and we have only auctioned lobby cards, stills, and a few other items, but no other posters for this movie! Because this poster is quite old and fragile, it can't be reasonably rolled (because that would almost surely damage the poster) and it will need to be sent in a large flat package, so bear in mind this additional cost when bidding on this poster. Condition: fair to good. The poster was never folded. It had a large area of paper loss in the middle of the left border that extended into the edge of the image. Someone taped a piece from a other half-sheet to the back of that area and then amateurishly drew in the missing portion of the missing edge of the image. They also did the same with a missing piece fro the bottom left corner. The poster had stains and tears around the edges and they also put tape on the back of those and performed slight amateur restoration to the fronts of those areas. in spite of these defects and the amateur restoration the poster could certainly be displayed as it is, or additional restoration could be performed, but bear all this in mind (and the added cost of shipping) before bidding on his poster.
