A Linenbacked Travel Poster (measures 22" x 33 1/2" [56 x 85 cm]) (Learn More)

The Las Vegas Club was a casino in Las Vegas, Nevada which was established in 1930. The owner was J. Kell Houssels who installed the first neon sign on a hotel gambling establishment in 1931 (it was only the second neon casino sign in the city). Later, Houssels erected the famous Las Vegas Club sign which was one of the tallest signs in town. After changing owners several times, the building was demolished in 2017 to make way for a new resort expected to open in 2020.
Artist: Gil Elvgren
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this travel poster! Also note that this item contains some nudity, so we have placed a white bar over those areas for those who are bothered by such images. Of course, the actual item does not have the white bars.

UPDATED 12/08/2019: Note that a Las Vegas expert tells us that this was likely printed in the early to mid-1950s, and not the 1940s as we originally mentioned.

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It had pinholes in the corners and a diagonal crease in the bottom right corner, with a few scuffs and smudges in the bottom background area. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
