A Linenbacked Japanese Travel Poster (measures 29 3/4" x 42 3/4" [76 x 109 cm]) (Learn More) Hakodate, the 1955 Japanese railroad railway train travel poster encouraging people to visit the Japanese city of Hakodate. The poster features an image of the Trappistine Convent and art of a hat and crucifix hanging from a tree. The convent (formally known as "Our Lady of the Lighthouse Trappist Monastery") was established in the 19th century and was the first convent in Japan. The building combines Gothic and Romanesque architecture, and is currently home to around 80 nuns. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
