An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded MGM Personality Poster (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Nelson Eddy was a successful singing actor during the late 1930s and early to mid 1940s. He came from a family of singers and musicians, and he studied music and gave his first concert recital in 1928. In 1933, after much success as a professional singer, Louis B. Mayer signed him to a 7 year MGM contract. In 1935, he made "Naughty Marietta" with Jeanette MacDonald, and it was a huge success, and they made several more movies, including "Rose-Marie" and "Maytime". Toward the end of his career, he performed in nightclubs and on the radio. His most famous movies were the ones he made with Jeanette MacDonald, but he appeared in several other movies, including the 1943 version of "Phantom of the Opera". He demonstrated his great singing ability in 1940's "New Moon", especially with his rendition of "Stout-Hearted Men"! He passed away in 1967, at the age of 65. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: MGM created two different sets of personality posters in the 1930s to promote their stars. The earlier set was made in 1932, and this poster comes from that set. These posters are extremely rare as few theaters ordered them, and fewer still saved them! Note that these posters were printed on a high quality paper stock, but it is one that does not always age very well, and can become fragile (usually resulting in chips around the edges of the poster). Because of their fragile nature and their age, we always send these posters in large flat packages, and never roll them into tubes! Condition: good. There is paper loss in the bottom left corner, much smaller paper loss in the right corners, and pinholes in the corners. There are many tears, creases, and smudges, and tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. There are some water stains and scuff marks in Eddy's face. Learn More about condition grades
