An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Tower of London, the 1939 Rowland V. Lee Universal historical England horror thriller (about a duke who is sixth in line to be the King of England, and he decides to speed up the process by killing those in his way, with the help of the royal executioner at the Tower of London, where enemies of England were beheaded) starring Basil Rathbone (as the Duke of Gloucester), Boris Karloff (as the executioner, Mord), Barbara O'Neil, Ian Hunter, Vincent Price (as George, Duke of Clarence), Nan Grey, John Sutton, Leo G. Carroll, Miles Mander, Lionel Belmore, Rose Hobart, John Herbert-Bond (as young Prince Richard), "and cast of thousands". Note that Boris Karloff appeared to be bald in this movie, but his head was not shaved. It was done through makeup by Jack Pierce, who had made up Karloff for the Frankenstein movies.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that there is an oddity about this poster. In the other examples of this poster we have seen, the image of Karloff has a tunic that is solid blue above and below the belt-like area. But on this poster it is more of a grey color! The poster is not faded, so it clearly is from a different printing. But yet it appears to surely be from 1939, both by the printing details at the bottom and by the quality of the paper. The poster originated in another country, and we suspect that it is from an international style, which would be one of the earliest ones we have ever seen. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept this oddity about its coloration.

Condition: good. The poster has a difference in color from other examples of the poster (see above). It has pinholes, tears, and small paper loss around the edges, with some separation and tiny paper loss at the crossfolds, and some tiny tears on parts of some folds. There is a pinhole in Karloff's forehead (see our image).
