(Learn More) Maria von Trapp (Baroness Maria Augusta von Trapp) was the stepmother and matriarch of the Trapp Family Singers. She wrote The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, which was published in 1949 and was the inspiration for the 1956 West German film The Trapp Family, which in turn inspired the 1959 Broadway musical The Sound of Music and its 1965 film version. She passed away in 1987 at the age of 82. Important Added Info: Note that this book (which is from 1959) has been personally autographed (signed) by Maria von Trapp! Our consignor acquired it in person when he visited the original Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont, in 1978. Also included is a color postcard of Maria Von Trapp, which is not signed. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the signature is authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good.
