An Undated (probably 1930s) Re-release Vintage Theatrical English Movie Pressbook (English pb; measures 9 1/2" x 11 1/2" [24 x 29 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Man of the World, the 1931 Edward Goodman & Richard Wallace Paris France romantic blackmail crime melodrama ("Mysterious--cunning--dangerous!"; "Outcast by the powerful..."; "Living on the follies of the weak!"; "Love came too late to save him!"; "He lived by his wits--clever, charming, dangerous--but he wasn't smart enough to escape his past!"; about a pretty young American girl whose uncle is very rich, and she gets involved with a man, but it turns out he is a blackmailer using her to get at her uncle) starring William Powell, Carole Lombard, Wynne Gibson, Lawrence Gray, Guy Kibbee, and George Chandler. Note that Powell and Lombard met on the set of this movie, eventually marrying (though they divorced two years later). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that when this movie was first made in 1931, Carole Lombard was not yet a major star. So this movie was given a full scale re-release after she did become a major star in the mid 1930s, and naturally, the posters were revised to give her prominent billing! Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this English pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this English pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The printing goes right to the edge of the top of each page, but we think this pressbook was created that way. There is a small tear near the top of the spine.
