An Original Vintage Japanese Campaign Book (measures 9 1/4" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; 84 pages) (Learn More) Cinema Yearbook of Japan 1938, the 1938 Japanese campaign book produced by The International Cinema Association of Japan. Note that we previously have auctioned softcover Japanese campaign books from between 1954 and the early 1960s. This made sense, because the Japanese movie industry was pretty devastated during World War II, and didn't get going again in a major way until 1954. But this cool hardcover book is a reminder that Japan had a significant movie industry in the 1920s and 1930s! This book is all black and white, but it has images of the top movies and stars of Japanese movies of 1937 (the year previous to the book coming out) and much information about the Japanese movie industry at that time. Not only is this the only example of this book we have ever auctioned, but it is also the only Japanese campaign book from before 1954 that we have ever auctioned! Important Added Info: Note that, as noted above, we have never before auctioned this Japanese campaign book! Condition: good to very good. There is discoloration at the spine of the cover, with some fairly small damage at the top and bottom of the spine. Otherwise, the book is in pretty nice condition (see our images).
