Wheel of Chance, the 1928 Alfred Santell silent New York City Jewish family relationship identical brothers crime melodrama ("Richard Barthelmess in two great characterizations"; based on the story Roulette "by Fanny Hurst"; a wild preposterous tearjerker about a Russian Jewish family going to New York to escape the Czars, and before they go, one of their young twin sons dies, but they prosper in New York and their surviving son grows up to be a District Attorney, and then it is discovered that the other son didn't die, but was nursed back to health by the midwife who said he died, and he ended up in New York too, but he is a gangster, and amazingly, he kills the former sleazy girlfriend of the District Attorney, who is actually his twin brother, and their mother pleads with her good son to help her bad son, which he does, and at the end, the family is reunited) starring Richard Barthelmess ("in two great characterizations", as both twin brothers), Bodil Rosing, Warner Oland, Anne Schaefer, Lina Basquette, and Margaret Livingston. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Important Added Info:

Note that in our last set of auctions that include multiple stills from single titles, we had 72 sets of stills that came from a wonderful group of just-discovered stills that are from 1927 to 1929, with the majority from 1928 exactly. Now, we are auctioning the remaining stills from this wonderful group, 131, all in separate auctions. In addition to them including a LOT of previously unseen stills (and sometimes from incredibly rare titles!), most of these stills have either snipes on the bottom or back, and many have some pencil writing on the back about the movie or actors. After these stills are auctioned, there will be no more stills from this wonderful collection!

Condition: very good to fine.
