An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked English Three-Sheet (called a 6sh in England) Movie Poster (3sh; measures 40" x 88" [102 x 224 cm]) (Learn More) Dangerous Affair, the 1919 Charles Miller silent romantic inheritance melodrama (likely about an American going to England to gain an inheritance) starring Herbert Rawlinson ("with a special cast of featured players including"), Florence Billings, Charles A. Stevenson, Stuart Holmes, and Warren Cook NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we once auctioned a different style English one-sheet 13 years ago, but we have NEVER auctioned THIS style! Because this poster and that poster have very different layouts, and because this poster says "A HAYWARD PRODUCTION" and the other poster said "HARRY WARD PRESENTS", one of them may predate the other, and one may be the first release and another from a early re-release. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept this uncertainty. Also note that this English three-sheet measures 40" x 88" [102 x 224 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on many parts of some folds. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. Unfortunately, after the poster was backed, it was very roughly handled, and there are now two lines of tears in the top center, with surface paper loss on those tears, and creases in the linen behind it. There are also lots of creases in the bottom 10" of the poster, with some small areas of surface paper loss. Obviously, one could have restoration performed, either with or without re-backing the poster, but bear these significant defects in mind before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
