An Original Vintage Theatrical German Movie Lobby Card #56 (LC; measures 9 1/4" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]) (Learn More)

Niemandsland (literally translates to "No-Man's-Land"; released in the U.S. in 1933 as "Hell on Earth"), the 1931 Victor Trivas & George Shdanoff German World War I (WWI) anti-war melodrama (about five World War I soldiers, each from a different country, including a Russian-Jewish soldier, who find themselves stranded in no-man's-land, and they decide that, rather than kill each other, they will work together to get to safety!) starring Ernst Busch (who, earlier that year, had played the street singer in Three Penny Opera), Vladimir Sokoloff, Renee Stobrawa, Elisabeth Lennartz, and Hugh Douglas. Note that this was made the year after "All Quiet on the Western Front", and it is also a powerful anti-war movie, showing the insanity of war and why wars need to never be fought on a global basis. Naturally, the Nazis were infuriated by this movie, and when they completely gained power, they ordered all prints of this early talking movie destroyed. It had long been thought that they had succeeded in this, but decades later, a print was discovered in the U.S., and it was restored by film archivist Maurice Zouary in 1969, and it is available on video. The movie needs to be rediscovered and shown to a wide audience!

Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this German lobby card, which is a "country of origin" lobby card for this German movie! Also note that this German lobby card measures 9 1/4" x 12" [23 x 30 cm].

Condition: very good. There is a tiny tear in the left of the bottom border and some minor wear around the edges. Otherwise, the German lobby card is in really nice condition!
