An Original Vintage Folded One-Sheet Poster (1sh; measures 23" x 35" [58 x 89 cm]) (Learn More) the 1980s double-bill release ("Hansel & Gretal set out to find the legendary treasure!"; "See! How they mark their trail with pebbles and bread crumbs"; "See! How evil witch imprisons Hansel"; "See! How Gretel outsmarts the evil witch"; "See! how they find the magic key to the treasure chest"; "In glowing glorious storybook color"; "Plus added featurette attraction"; "We promise this little fellow will melt your heart!") of Hansel and Gretel, the 1954 John Paul children's puppet fantasy musical ("The miracle that happens only once to the very young ...at heart"; "See... the fabulous 'Kinemins'... Life-like little people they walk, they dance, they sing... They almost breathe!"; "Full Length Feature Musical Fantasy in FAIRYLAND COLOR"; "Winner Parents' Medal Movie of the Month"; using electronically controlled figures called "Kinemins", capable of every natural movement of the human body and a variety of expressions far surpassing the range of the live actors) featuring the voices of Anna Russell, Mildred Dunnock, Frank Rogier, Delbert Anderson, and Constance Brigham. Note that the producers of this movie used deception in their advertising, and it appears that the deception was necessary to get financing for the movie! They pretended that they had some "revolutionary new method" of creating "electronically controlled figures", which they called "Kinemins" that would far surpass any previous form of animation (and since they told their backers this, they had to go ahead and put it on their advertising). In actuality, the figures were simple puppets, and the movie was made with stop-motion (but it was not claymation, for the figures were solid armature puppets, and apparently the only thing "new" about this was that the puppets were held in place with some sort of strong magnets in between each shot!) The entire movie was shot in a building in New York City, but the producers gave the false idea that it was created in Europe, so it would seem all the more fascinating! AND The Snowman, the 1982 animated animation cartoon short, based on the classic book by Raymond Briggs. This cartoon short was originally shown on TV, but we imagine that it was added to showings of other children's movies in the 1980s in theaters. We can't say for certain that the movie advertised here (The Snowman) is definitely the 1982 short, but we believe it is, because there is no other movie by that name that was made anywhere near this time. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that, as noted above, we believe that the second movie advertised here is the classic cartoon short based on Raymond Brigg's book. It would likely be the only movie poster created that advertises this short! Note also that this one-sheet measures 23" x 35" [58 x 89 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Condition: good. The poster has patches of discoloration in four areas of the center of the corners of the art (see our image). It has some creases at lower center and there are some other defects that can be clearly seen in our super-sized image. After proper restoration the poster will look fantastic, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it. Learn More about condition grades
