An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Tugboat Annie, the 1933 Mervyn LeRoy nautical seafaring sailor romantic comedy ("America's Sweethearts Together Again!"; "Based on the Saturday Evening Post stories by Norman Reilly Raine") starring Marie Dressler (in the title role as Tugboat Annie), Wallace Beery, Robert Young, Maureen O'Sullivan, and Willard Robertson. Note that this movie was a big hit. MGM would have surely made a sequel, but Dressler passed away the following year. In 1940, they tried to revive the series with the sequel, "Tugboat Annie Sails Again", seven years later, with Marjorie Rambeau taking over the lead role. It likely was not very successful, because there were no more sequels with her, and it was not until 1945 that MGM tried yet again, this time with Jane Darwell in the lead role in "Captain Tugboat Annie". There were no more sequels! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.
