An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Call of Courage, the 1925 Clifford Smith silent cowboy western ("A Blue Streak Western"; "Story by Harold Shumate") starring Art Acord ("with his wonder horse 'Raven' and his dog pal 'Rex'"), Olive Hasbrouck, Duke R. Lee, Frank Rice, John T. Prince, Rex the Dog (billed as "Rex the Wonder Dog"), and Raven the Wonder Horse. Note that Rex and Raven were a dog and horse that appeared in many Art Acord movies between 1921 and 1929 for Raven and 1923 and 1929 for Rex. They were both sometimes billed as "Wonder Dog" or "Wonder Horse". We wonder if they weren't owned by Art! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. Also note that Rex the Dog first appeared in 1923, and then two years later, he appeared again, and since in the second movie he made in 1925 he was billed as "Rex II", we suspect that was a different dog from the 1923 Rex, but we can't say for sure. In any event, Rex was a Border Collie, and apparently he was really wonderful, because he was variously billed as "Rex the Wonder Dog", "Rex the Marvelous Dog", and "Rex the Movie Collie". He ended his career in 1929, hopefully going into a long retirement. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.
