An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Two-Sided Japanese Press Sheet Movie Poster (14x20; measures 10 1/4" x 24 3/4" [26 x 63 cm]) (Learn More) Saikaku Ichidai Onna (released in the U.S. as "The Life of Oharu"), the 1952 Kenji Mizoguchi Japanese romantic prostitution melodrama ("The Mizoguchi masterpiece about the courtesan O-Haru"; about a daughter of a samurai who becomes a prostitute at the imperial court, and she falls in love with a common man, and she and her family are exiled and the movie is told in flashback when she is 50 years old, looking back on her sad life) starring Kinuyo Tanaka (in the title role as Oharu), Toshiro Mifune, Tsukie Matsuura, Ichiro Sugai and Toshiaki Konoe NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned two examples of this Japanese press sheet, which is a "country of origin" item for this Japanese movie, and only one in the last 10 years (and that one sold for $642)! Also note that this Japanese press sheet measures 10 1/4" x 24 3/4" [26 x 63 cm]. We have provided an image of each side of the press sheet. Finally, note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The sheet has some faint brown dot staining at the left edge of the center horizontal fold and in portions of the upper blank border. There are a few very faint stains at right on back of the upper horizontal fold and there is some surface paper loss in the left edge of the back center horizontal fold (see our image). The rare press sheet is otherwise in pretty nice condition and the wonderful image on front can certainly be displayed and enjoyed as is, and after a simple linenbacking it would look great!
