eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result f487 LI'L ABNER GREETING CARDS set of 15 '40s Al Capp Date Sold 9/20/2005Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Set of Greeting Cards (outer envelope measures 6" x 9 1/4"; greeting cards measure 5" x 7" each when folded) (Learn More) Li'l Abner was a satirical comic strip from 1934 to 1977. Written and drawn by Al Capp, the strip featured humorous stories of a fictional clan of hillbillies living in the mountain town of Dogpatch, U.S.A. The comic strip has spawned several films, radio shows, books and even Sadie Hawkins Day (a pseudo-holiday created within the strip which became a widely celebrated event in real life). On Sadie Hawkins Day, women could ask men to marry them, so you could see why it became very popular, but mostly only with women with marriage-phobic boyfriends! Important Added Info: The outer bag is water stained and has paper loss on the back. The cards within are in virtually perfect condition! Condition: good. This vintage movie paper item (or related movie memorabilia) is in from somewhat lesser condition (what most collectors might call "good to very good" or "good") to clearly lesser condition (what some collectors might call "fair" or "poor"). The item offered here has defects typical of many items that are up to 100 years old! Some are mainly only in the borders or on the covers (if it is an item with multiple pages), so it is likely that the item can still be displayed and enjoyed. Please look at our "super-sized" image, as it will greatly help you know what condition this item is in! But also remember that some of these items have defects that may not be seen from our images (either because we did not photograph every part of the item, or because they are the sort of defect that is not easily seen). Please do not bid on this item unless you can accept the defects that it has! But also know that we were extremely harsh in grading these items we are currently selling, because we wanted our buyers to be at least satisfied when they received their purchase, and possibly overjoyed! We downgraded many items to this lower condition grade because they had defects that are enough that we would not grade them as "very good", but we would still think many collectors would be happy with those items. If our super-sized image seems to be in nicer condition than you would expert the item to be in, know that it is likely a result of our having graded these items so harshly!
