Date Sold 10/23/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 6 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) Edgar, the Explorer, the 1920 silent juvenile adventure comedy short (in this entry, Edgar and his friends travel to Africa, where they have encounters with black African natives) starring Edward Peil Jr. of(billed as "Johnny Jones"; in the title role as Edgar Pomeroy), Lucille Ricksen, Buddy Messinger, Cordelia Callahan, John Cossar, Marie Dunn, and Kenneth Earl. Note that this was one a dozen shorts made in 1920 and 1921 that were all based on Booth Tarkington "Adventures and Emotions of Edgar Pomeroy" short stories about a juvenile man named Edgar, who has many adventures, and he and his teenage friends travel to exotic locales (where they encounter adults), and even reenact Shakespeare's Hamlet in one of the shorts! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the movie is called "An African Interlude" on the back of each still, which was the working title for this movie! Condition: very good. One still originally measured greater than 8" x 10" and was trimmed of most of its blank borders, so it measures close to 8" x 10".
