Auction History Result 1x0106 LOT OF 6 ROCK HUDSON PRESSBOOKS 1950s-1960s advertising for several of his movies! Date Sold 3/20/2022 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 6 pressbooks from Rock Hudson movies. Rock Hudson was born in 1925. He was 6'4" (or was he 6'5"?) and he looked like a movie star, and it didn't take him long to become one. Some of his movies include: Giant (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Seconds, and Ice Station Zebra. He appeared in around 70 movies, and starred in a TV series, McMillan & Wife, in the 1970s. He was a gay homosexual man at a time when one couldn't reveal that and continue in movies, and he had to hide that throughout his career (even having a sham marriage with interior designer Phyllis Gates in the 1950s), until he developed AIDS and could no longer hide it. When he publicly admitted that he had AIDS, it changed the public perception of the disease (particularly because Nancy Reagan was a very good friend of his and her husband was the President of the United States), and helped gain the funding and research that has led to so many advances in fighting it. He passed away in 1985 at the age of 59 from complications from AIDS. Note that the items in this lot are mostly from the 1950s to the 1960s. We do not provide a list of these items, but there are images of all of them. Measurements: 12" x 18"Note that we were consigned a number of pressbook bulk lots just before preparing this set of auctions. We just don't have the time to check these pressbooks for cuts. Based on the last group of pressbooks we received from this consignor, there is a very good chance that no more than a handful of these pressbooks would have any cuts, and possibly no more than one or two. HOWEVER, DO NOT BID ON THIS BULK LOT UNLESS YOU CAN ACCEPT THAT SOME OF THEM MAY HAVE CUTS! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. Some of the pressbooks were folded and some have separation on the spine and wear around the edges.
