A 1951 Realart Re-Release Theatrical Movie Lobby Card #8 (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Frankenstein, the classic 1931 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller ("The monster that terrorized the world!"; "The Man Who Made a Monster"; "Warning! The monster is loose!"; "Based upon the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Story"; "Adapted by John L. Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles

Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good. The card had an unusual defect, which is that it had an area of paper loss in the top right corner, extending into the top right of the image. The paper loss measured 4 1/2" at its longest point and extended down 1/2" for the first 2" (starting from the right corner) and down 1" to the left of that in the background to the right of the window. There was some surface paper loss below the regular paper loss to the right of the window. Someone had a very unusual idea to "restore" the card. They took a color reproduction of the card, and they cut off an area of the right corner, and then they taped it to the back of the card. What is odd is that they cut a piece of the reproduction that was quite a bit larger than the paper loss (both in terms of how far it extended down and how far it extended to the left). If you look at the image of the back of the card, you can see where the paper loss actually is. If I owned this great card, which has a few smudges and tears in the rest of the borders, I would immediately have the taped reproduction removed from the top right corner, and then have it properly restored, and the card will display wonderfully (and the defects are not in the image, and only very slightly in the title, so that is a big plus).
