Date Sold 8/31/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 6" x 12" [15 x 30 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Queen Christina, the 1933 Rouben Mamoulian Sweden royalty doomed romance romantic melodrama ("The Secret Loves of Queen Christina"; about a Swedish Queen who falls in love with a Spaniard, but is forced to marry her cousin) starring Greta Garbo (in the title role as Queen Christina; "Garbo returns"; "Triumphant return to the screen"), John Gilbert, Ian Keith, Lewis Stone, Elizabeth Young, C. Aubrey Smith, and Reginald Owen. Note that this John Gilbert sound movie, like all his sound movies, completely dispels the myth that he had a high-pitched speaking voice, which ended his career! Actually, he had a fine speaking voice, and there is much speculation as to what it was that actually ended his career, and that can be found in various places on the Internet, but it was definitely not his voice! Also, note that after making four movies in 1931, Garbo took an 18 month break before making this her next movie, and so it was advertised as her "triumphant return to the screen". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned an example of this herald! This is one of an excellent collection of 27 rare heralds from the late 1930s and early 1940s which was recently discovered. Many of them are ones we have either never auctioned before or only auctioned once or twice. The heralds were all printed in the U.S., but were mostly used in theaters in Egypt, so most have overprinting on the back for an Egyptian movie theater. Also, almost all of the heralds have either tiny circular holes scattered in the image (sometimes very few, sometimes more), and some of them have larger paper loss somewhere in the image. We strongly suggest you look closely at our images of the fronts and backs of these rare heralds before bidding on them, so you can see the location of the tiny circular holes or larger paper loss. Condition: fair to good. There are ten tiny circular holes scattered in the herald, and there is tiny paper loss in the upper right border of the cover (the lower right border was created with die-cut triangles). See above for more about the condition of this herald and please look at our super-sized images of both sides before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
