All the thrills!!"; "See the highlights in slow motion!"; "Champion Floyd"; "Challenger Sonny"; "No home TV"; "Direct from ringside - Comiskey Park - Chicago") featuring Floyd Patterson, and Sonny Liston. This fight took place in Chicago on September 25th and Patterson (who was the reigning Heavyweight Champion) was the favorite to win. However, Patterson lost his title to Liston by a first-round knockout. Note that from the 1910s through the 1960s, major heavyweight boxing matches were filmed, and then released to theaters soon afterwards, often taking in huge amounts at the box office. At some point, matches were broadcast "live" on pay-per-view, which ended this practice. Note that this was the first fight between these two great fighters. They had a rematch, which occurred in Las Vegas on July 22, 1963, and there is a 1963 one-sheet advertising the filmed version of that fight (and on that poster, the images are the same, but they, and the fighters' names, are reversed). Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned one-sheets for this famous boxing match, which was from when a filmed version of the fight played in regular movie theaters (and that film was distributed by Allied Artists). However, this wonderful window card is from the closed circuit telecast of this match, which was done live, and it was the predecessor of "pay-per-view", where you could go to a venue and watch a TV screen that showed the fight as it was happening! We have never auctioned this window card (or anything from the closed circuit version of this match) before! Condition: fair to good. There are some water stains, scuffs, and smudges scattered throughout the card. It can still be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or certainly, this ultra rare window card could be restored, but please bear in mind its defects and look at our super-sized image before bidding on it.
