Better known as the Indy 500 or the Indianapolis 500, it is held annually at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) in Speedway, Indiana (a suburb of Indianapolis). The event is held over Memorial Day weekend in late May and is contested as part of the IndyCar Series, the top level of American Championship Car racing. Past winners include: A.J. Foyt, Al Unser Sr., Rick Mears, Johnny Rutherford, Bobby Unser, Mario Andretti, Gordon Johncock and many more. Important Added Info: Note that this REPRODUCTION photo has been personally autographed (signed) by SIX people: Mario Andretti, Johnny Rutherford, Bobby Unser, A. J. Foyt, Al Unser, AND Gordon Johncock! It was matted together with a small paper giving the names of the people who signed. Note that this comes from a wonderful collection that was assembled by a collector decades ago, mostly from RR Auctions, which has auctioned signed items since 1976. The person who purchased these items passed away several years ago, and while he did not save most of the certificates of authenticity he received when he bought these signed items, almost all were purchased between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, and we think it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is genuine. In our last two auctions, we auctioned around 100 items from this same consignor, and we thought that was the very last of this wonderful collection, but our consignor discovered a few more items that had been missed, so we are auctioning those last ones in this set of auctions. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
