An Original 1944 Vintage English Movie Trade Ad (measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]; 2 pages) (Learn More) Lifeboat, the classic 1943 Alfred Hitchcock (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) World War II (WWII) shipwreck survivor suspense melodrama ("Out of man's rawest emotions - comes the most amazing drama life ever staged!"; based on the story by John Steinbeck; set entirely on a lifeboat adrift on the Atlantic ocean, which has eight survivors from a ship torpedoed by a Nazi U-boat, and it also has a German sailor from the U-boat, but the other eight survivors don't know that!) starring Tallulah Bankhead, William Bendix, Walter Slezak, Mary Anderson, John Hodiak, Henry Hull, Heather Angel, Hume Cronyn, and Canada Lee. Note that Alfred Hitchcock was famous for having cameo roles in his movies, but because this movie had no other characters other than the lifeboat survivors, he could not appear in the usual way (but he included a scene where a floating newspaper is shown that has his picture on it)! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a great trade ad taken out of an issue of Kinematograph Weekly English trade magazine (we have 33 of them in this set of auctions). Studios would run these elaborate ads in issues of this magazine, and they often had images not found on any of the regular movie posters (either English or U.S.). This trade ad was removed from a 1944 issue of this magazine, and it will look incredible displayed on the new owner's wall. The back of this trade ad has text or ads for other movies from that time, and we have not pictured the back because the primary interest to bidders is the great ad we have pictured. Condition: good to very good. The ad was removed from a magazine (see above). It was the centerfold of the magazine so the pages are on a single sheet, and there are staple holes at the spine as well as some small separation in the left edge of the spine (see our image).
