eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result v744 REAR WINDOW movie lobby card R62 best Jim Stewart & Grace Kelly! Date Sold 1/22/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A 1962 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window, the classic 1954 Alfred Hitchcock (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) thriller ("Based on the short story by Cornell Woolrich"; "Screenplay by John Michael Hayes"; about a man who breaks his leg and is forced to stay at his home until he's better; during this time he observes his neighbors and does some voyeuristic detective work) starring James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart; as Jeff), Grace Kelly (as Lisa), Wendell Corey (as Detective Lt. Doyle), Thelma Ritter (as Stella), Raymond Burr (as Lars Thorwald), Judith Evelyn (as Miss Lonelyhearts), Georgine Darcy (as Miss Torso), Jesslyn Fax (as Miss Hearing Aid), Rand Harper, Havis Davenport (Harper and Davenport played the "newlyweds"), and Ross Bagdasarian (as the "Songwriter"). Note that Raymond Burr had appeared in movies for seven years before this, but always had minor roles, usually playing the "heavy". It would be three more years before his big break in 1957, when he became TV's "Perry Mason"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that for the 1962 re-release of this classic Hitchcock movie (released to capitalize on the success of Psycho), Paramount added a large image of Hitchcock to the top of the posters (and middle left of the lobby cards), and added a box at the bottom that calls Raymond Burr "TV's Perry Mason" (between Rear Window's first release and 1962, Burr went from being a minor character actor to a major TV star!). Also note that Grace Kelly has been given an added credit that says "The Princess - in her most striking performance!" Condition: good to very good. There are water stains in the left of the bottom border (extending into the "R" and the bottom of the "E" of "REAR" in the title) and some creases and smudges around the edges of the card. There is a pinhole in the top center of the card. There is a small piece of masking tape on the back of the top right of the card that was not put there for any restoration purpose. There is some surface paper loss on the back of the borders (where the card was apparently once attached to a mat with tape, but it does not affect the front). Certainly, any talented restorer could remove some or all of the stains through chemical means, and after proper restoration, this card will look great, and it will likely have very little paint restoration anywhere in the image!
