eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 2y1136 DOUGH BOYS LC 1930 Buster Keaton with rifle & bayonet by pretty Sally Eilers, ultra rare! Date Sold 9/27/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Dough Boys, the 1930 Edward Sedgwick World War I (WWI) military screwball comedy ("A Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer ALL TALKING Picture"; "Buster Keaton in a Howitzer of Howls!"; "A barrage of laughs!"; "The big parade of roars!"; "Story by Al Boasberg and Sidney Lazarus"; Buster is a rich man who goes to the unemployment office to find a chauffeur, but it has been converted into a recruiting office, and he accidentally enlists, and of course, he is the world's worst soldier!; among other comic routines, he performs a ukulele duet with Cliff Edwards) starring Buster Keaton, Sally Eilers, Cliff Edwards, Edward Brophy, and Ann Sothern (in a bit part as a dancer). Note that the IMDb claims the title of this movie is "Doughboys". However, all the advertising we have seen from the first release of the movie clearly says "Dough Boys", so we think the IMDb is simply wrong. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY first release movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a one-sheet (19 years ago for $4,387), an insert (19 years ago), a Swedish poster (17 years ago), two window cards, and a few stills from this movie (and NO other first release movie paper of any kind) until we received this lobby card, which is the first lobby card we have auctioned, and it has a great close up of Buster Keaton and Sally Eilers! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. There is scuffing scattered in the background areas and in part of Keaton's uniform, but it is fortunately not in the stars' faces, although there is a little bit in the girl's hair. There are scuff marks in the top of the "K" of "KEATON". There are scuff marks in the "BO" of "BOYS" at middle right, with a tear in the right border extending to the right of the "O", and someone did some touch up to the blue background to the right of the "O", and there is a piece of clear tape on the back. There is also a small piece of clear tape on the back of a small tear in the lower right blank border. There is tiny paper loss in the right blank corners, with a tiny tear in the right of the bottom blank border. There is darkening in part of the bottom of the bottom blank border and some small creases in the blank borders. In spite of the above defects, which we describe in detail due to the card's rarity and value, it can certainly be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or one might choose to have restoration performed.
