A 1935 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) If I Had a Million, the classic 1932 James Cruze, H. Bruce Humberstone, Ernst Lubitsch, Norman Z. McLeod, Stephen Roberts, William A. Seiter, Norman Taurog, and Lothar Mendes all-star comedy ("They're all in - If I Had A Million"; "They're all in it!"; based on the book 'Windfall' by Robert Andrews) starring Gary Cooper, George Raft, Wynne Gibson, Charles Laughton, Jack Oakie, Frances Dee, Charlie Ruggles, Alison Skipworth, W.C. Fields, Mary Boland, Roscoe Karns, May Robson, Gene Raymond, Lucien Littlefield, and Richard Bennett. Note that this was an all-star movie put together by Paramount wherein seven famous directors each directed a segment of the movie (the plot was about a multi-millionaire who left a million dollars each to total strangers; this movie was the basis for the very popular TV series "The Millionaire"). Most of Paramount's top stars appeared in the seven segments. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that when this movie was re-released three years after it was first released, the studio once again created an insert with cool deco lettering and a list of the movie's many stars. But they rearranged the order of the stars (no doubt due to rising or falling popularity over those three years!), and Wynne Gibson, who has been third billed in 1932 was not billed at all (perhaps because she had left the studio in the meantime). Also note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 insert posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 insert posters (note that most post-1970 inserts were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those inserts).
UPDATED 12/31/2019: Note that a knowledgeable collector tells us that the reason that Wynne Gibson is not billed is because his segment was removed! The collector says "Paramount edited the film for the re-release and removed two segments. The Wynne Gibson segment was removed due to the Production Code, which had been implemented between the original 1932 release and this re-release. The other section that was removed was the one with Gene Raymond as the condemned prisoner on death row as it was felt that this detracted from the over-all 'comedic' aspect of the film. These cuts also made the film run considerably shorter and thus a better fit for a double-bill." Condition: good to very good. The poster has pinholes around the edges and most have been backed by conservation tape and some have had amateur restoration (see our image). It is otherwise in generally nice condition.
