A 1953 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Son of Frankenstein, the classic 1939 Rowland V. Lee Universal monster horror thriller sequel ("Mysterious! Weird! Horrifying!"; "The greatest fear figures in screen history... all in Universal's New cavalcade of horror!"; the third Universal "Frankenstein" movie) starring Basil Rathbone (in the title role as the original Dr. Frankenstein's son), Boris Karloff (in the title role as the Frankenstein monster), Bela Lugosi (as Ygor), Lionel Atwill, Josephine Hutchinson, and Donnie Dunagan (as Peter von Frankenstein) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has never been folded! Most half-sheet posters were folded twice (once horizontally and once vertically) right off of the printing press. It is very difficult to find an unfolded copy of most half-sheets, especially from before 1970! Condition: very good. there is an area of surface paper loss in the top right of the poster (there are two larger areas and three smaller areas above them, all of which should be clearly seen in our larger scan); there are light vertical creases throughout the poster (probably caused when the poster was folded and unfolded) and there is a partial light vertical fold down the center; there are small circular water stains in the lower left, one in the "H" of "RATHBONE" and three beneath that; there is a 1" tear in the middle of the left border; there are creases, smudges, small tears, and a couple of light stains around the edges of the poster; there are several pinholes in each corner. While this poster clearly has some real defects, they are offset by the poster being unfolded. A talented restorer could repair the defects, and this poster would look great!
