A 1942 Re-Release Theatrical Folded German "A1" Movie Poster (measures 24" x 34" [61 x 86 cm]) (Learn More)

Meine Frau, die Perle (literally translates to "My Wife, the Pearl"), the 1937 Alwin Elling German romantic family relationship marriage comedy starring Ralph Arthur Roberts, Trude Marlen, Robert Dorsay, Gunther Luders, and Gerhard Dammann. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
Artist: Kurt Geffers
Important Added Info: Note that movie paper of any kind from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this 1942 re-release German poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this German movie, and given when the movie was made, and where, it is unlikely we will ever auction another poster from it again!

Condition: very good. The poster has tack holes in the corners and darkening and small stains around the edges. Notice that one of the credits is covered over. That is because after this movie was re-released in 1942, one of the lead actors, Robert Dorsay, was executed soon after for alleged treason, so when this poster was used (likely in 1943, right after his execution), Dorsay's name was covered over on posters, because he had become a "non-person". The same thing had occurred earlier with director Herbert Selpin, who openly criticized a just released movie, and he was killed by the Gestapo in 1942, and his name was covered over on any displayed posters used for movies he had been credited on!
