Note that this was one of a number of posters created to promote the Film Division, one of the most important branches of the Committee on Public Information. The Division produced three major feature films to promote the war effort: Pershing's Crusaders, America's Answer and Under Four Flags. These films, along with several one reel films, brought the heroism of soldiers on the front lines closer to home. Artist: Kerr Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had a long vertical tear in the top center and a long semi-circular tear in the lower right, and several smaller tears scattered in the image. There were pinholes, tears, and stains around the edges, more so in the top of the right border. There were some creases and scuffs scattered throughout the image. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
