An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style Z Forty by Sixty Movie Poster (40x60; measures 40" x 60" [102 x 152 cm]) (Learn More) Picnic, the 1956 Joshua Logan (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) romantic melodrama ("From the moment he hit town... She knew it was just a matter of time!"; "The famed Pulitzer Prize Play.... On the screen at last!"; "The Pulitzer Prize Play... Now On The Screen!"; "Based on the play 'Picnic' by William Inge", "Screen play by Daniel Taradash, prize winning screen writer of 'From Here to Eternity'"; "The Pulitzer Prize Play is now a prize picture in CinemaScope and in color by Technicolor"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a drifter coming into a small town to meet with an old frat buddy who also happens to be the son of the richest man in town) starring William Holden, Kim Novak (in her fifth credited movie role!), Betty Field, Susan Strasberg, Cliff Robertson, Rosalind Russell (billed as "co-starring Rosalind Russell as Rosemary"), and Arthur O'Connell (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Not only that, but this poster has a far more colorful and far better printed image than that of the one-sheet, and it also has an added large picnic basket in the background. The 30x40 has a similar image to this, but with different coloring, and that poster and this poster are surely the two best first release U.S. posters from this title. Condition: good. The poster has some discoloration scattered in some areas from exposure to moisture mostly in the lower half (unfortunately in some portions of the artwork where there are also some scuff marks, creases and remnants of paper from another source). It has a few lighter scuff marks in the rest of the poster and there is some writing in one border. After some proper restoration the rare poster will look fantastic, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it. Learn More about condition grades
