A 1980 Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked German Movie Poster (measures approximately 17" x 23") (Learn More) Un Chien Andalou (released in the U.S. as "An Andalusian Dog"), the classic 1929 Luis Bunuel silent French fantasy short starring Salvador Dali, Pierre Batcheff, Simone Mareuil, Luis Bunuel, Robert Hommet, and Fano Messan. Note that this is the movie which contains one of the most disturbing images ever shown on screen, that of a man slitting a woman's eye with a straight razor (if you have ever seen it, you have not forgotten it!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster features a giant close up of the terrifying scene in the movie where a man cuts a woman's eye with a straight razor (no one who has ever seen this scene can't forget it)! Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are slightly noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "Pre-Restoration Defects & Quality of Restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had minor wear along the foldlines and tiny paper loss in the top left corner. There is very slight bleed-through in the white area above the title from writing on the back. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but the restorer simply backed it "as is" (and the defects described above are not very noticeable or distracting). Learn More about condition grades
